Valeska Hykel is a painter and printmaker whose work is an ongoing dialogue between these two practices.

By painting directly onto the screen’s mesh, these expressive monotypes toy with the boundaries of painting within print. In them she ensures that the hand of the artist is visible and allows the scars of the process to add to their narrative.

Graduating with an MA in Multidisciplinary Printmaking from the University of the West of England, she was awarded the Rebecca Smith Prize for Printmaking in 2022.

Valeska exhibited at Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair in 2022 and 2023, was Artist in Residence at Print Club London in 2023 with an upcoming Solo Exhibition at Print Club London in June 2024.
